Presumably it works for them, or at least doesn't cause them any problems. As for their cuteness, that's not a function of them but of us. We're programmed to see certain characteristics as "cute", so that young babies don't get abandoned in the woods after four straight sessions of "up-all-night" when Daddy has to work. Pandas (like Koalas) happen to have most of those characteristics.

There genetic makeup hasn't been altered enough to make them look different than eachother. There are alot of other animals that also look the same. What about Tigers, breeds of birds (With the exception of a few)
We probably all look alike to giant pandas too. I wonder if we look cute to them...

Wow. Are they let's see... 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8... not sure maybe 9 couplets? Otherwise, I would say that they are the same because they are of one species. But I must admit, that's alot of pandas to look the same- WOW!
Two subspecies of giant panda have been recognized on the basis of distinct cranial measurements, color patterns, and population genetics, so panda's don't look the same :D

and it might be black to absorb heat and white to reflect it
